COVID-19 procedures

April 7th, 2021

We are kindly asking that all parents/carers adhere to the below requirements when attending our swimming lessons and the facilities at Watford Girls Grammar School:

  • Do not attend your lesson if you or someone within your household has or has had any of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) symptoms within the last 10 days or if you’ve been asked to self-isolate
  • Please respect a 2m distance from other people in the facilities where possible
  • Adults are required to wear face coverings whilst in the premises unless you are exempt
  • Hand sanitizer will be available on entering and exiting the premises
  • Children will be permitted to arrive to their lesson in their swimming attire. We recommend loose clothing/dressing gowns/hooded towels over the top
  • One adult from each household is permitted to enter the pool facilities
  • A one-way system will be in place, please adhere to signage and directions provided
  • Parents/carers are asked to wait outside of the pool facilities for the duration of the lesson
  • Chairs will be available on poolside for a bag of belongings. Those with younger children may wish to take their belongings outside with them
  • All swimmers are required to wearing a swimming hat. These are available at £4 each if you don’t already have one
  • Swimmers will be escorted to the fire exit door after their lesson. We encourage children to go straight home from their lesson if possible however the changing rooms are available to get dry and changed if you’d prefer
  • Showers are not available on the premises during this time

What we’re doing for you:

  • Due to the depth of the water in the pool, it is still considered the safest option to have our teachers teach from the water in our beginner and improver classes. Our staff have undertaken training in accordance with the new National Guidelines on the safest ways to teach swimmers from the water, during this pandemic
  • Some of our teachers may wear face masks / shields if they chose to do so
  • Number of swimmers in the pool has been reduced
  • Swimming bays are bigger to allow more space per swimmer
  • Floats/aids/pool equipment will be cleaned after each lesson
  • Swimmers will keep the same float/equipment for the duration of their lesson
  • Cleaning of the facilities will be taking place throughout the sessions
  • Teachers/pool staff will have their temperatures checked daily and will self-isolate if they show any of the COVID-19 symptoms
  • Pools are chlorinated at a level deemed necessary to kills all germs including Coronavirus, this level has not changed from previous terms

If you have any questions regarding any of the above information, please do not hesitate to contact us at aquaswimschool@gmail.com

As always, we thank you for your continued support
